We have a lot to be proud of in Wisconsin- besides awesome winter survival skills and really good cheese! We have our share of home grown talent and we are excited to present our 100% “Sconnie Nation” organic, GMO free, locally produced picture book. From start to finish… 100% WISCONSIN! Our latest book, Annie’s Awesome Terrible Troublesome Hair, is a lovely, humorous story about a young girl whose fear of scissors prevents her from getting a much-needed haircut. A series of hair disasters unfolds until a failed art project forces her into facing her fear!
We paired up with illustrator and “Sconnie” native, Brigid Malloy. Brigid has a sweet sense of humor and her illustrations are filled with joy! She grew up in Sussex and attended Brookfield Academy High School. Brigid received a Bachelor of Fine Art from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2018 where she majored in illustration and minored in communication design. She has interned as an illustrator and book designer at Orange Hat Publishing and is currently designing beer draft handles! How WISCONSIN is that???
Annie’s Awesome Terrible Troublesome Hair will be released at Pigtails and Crewcuts on April 13th. Colleen Foley Puffpaff owns the salon. The salon is super cute with truck salon chairs, kids music or videos, commotion and beauticians that can handle a screaming child as well as hair care for the parents while the critters play! (But parents don’t have to sit in the fire truck- unless they really want too.) Colleen and her husband relocated back to Brookfield where they work and are raising their sons. Despite living several years in Maryland, Colleen is a Wisconsin girl through and through. (She occasionally enjoys a Brandy Old Fashion Sweet!) Sconnie strong!
And to top it all off….. we had the book printed at Worzalla in Stevens Point, Wisconsin! They were beyond amazing and we loved working locally.
Please join Margaret, Patty, Brigid, and Colleen for the book premiere and tour of Pigtails And Crewcuts at 17365 W. Bluemound Rd Brookfield from 9am – 12 on April 13th. Tour the salon and meet the staff, get some fairy hair, spray colors, sit on the adorable salon “chairs”, enjoy snacks, watch Brigid design personalized art and purchase Annie’s Awesome Terrible Troublesome Hair!
