About the Authors

Margaret Solberg, a recently retired teacher, was one of the finest 4-year-old kindergarten educators in our community. “Mrs. S” is known for her creative and fun ways to teach children.  She has been awarded the Betty Brinn Teacher of the Year and also the Herb Kohl Educator Award. Margaret raised 3 children and has been active in the community, serving many different agencies that serve the poor as a volunteer.  She knows kids, learning and projects!  Margaret is “Grammy” to 9 grandkids under age 12. Margaret and her honey of 46 years, brew amazing and tasty beers as a hobby so we like to have writing meetings at her house.

H…i…c…c…u…p!

We are very happy authors!

Patty Grum spent her adult years raising 5 children and volunteering in the community.

She authored a slice-of-life column titled Jelly On The Edges that was published in a local newspaper back in the dark ages.   Both are  members of the Society of Children Book Writers and Illustrators. Patty also knows about “whoo hoo” as she has 13 grandkids and has been married to the same guy for 42 years. And yes, we know the book is upside down in this picture.   We choose this photo because no other writer would dare do this. We welcome the crazy!

We are friends of 36 years and partners in a lot of adventures and some misadventures!

All of our grandkids live near us and we are busy (ok, sometimes swamped) with little

characters, diapers, kid goo, soccer games, gymnastic events, school programs and just pure joy.  We consider ourselves as two of the luckiest grandmas in the world.  We are blessed with lovely adult kids, their spouses and their kids… our grands.  We are married to two of the nicest, strongest husbands, who wheel us around on the back of tandem bikes while we chat up more story ideas.  (And yes, WE ARE pedaling in the back!) We are two Nanas having fun.
